On Wednesday, the Lok Sabha experienced a significant breach in security when two unidentified individuals leaped into the House chamber from the visitors' gallery. The entire incident was captured on camera.

Following the unfolding incident, Members of Parliament (MPs) quickly evacuated the House. According to one MP, the individuals began shouting slogans and released some gas.

Subsequently, the Delhi Police apprehended both individuals involved in the intrusion, identifying them as Sagar Sharma (son of Shankarlal Sharma) and Manoranjan D, a 35-year-old engineer residing in Mysuru.

In a separate development, a man and a woman named Amol Shinde (25) and Neelam (42) were later detained by the police for staging a protest outside the Parliament building. They were found carrying cans emitting a yellowish smoke.

Addressing the media outside Parliament, MPs provided an account of the chaotic and panicked scenes within the Lok Sabha.

"Out of nowhere, two young men, approximately 20 years old, jumped into the House from the visitor's gallery, holding canisters emitting yellow smoke. One of them was making an attempt to reach the Speaker's chair. They were shouting slogans, and the smoke they released could have been harmful," conveyed Congress MP Karti Chidambaram to the media.

Dimple Yadav, an MP from the Samajwadi Party (SP) who was present in the House during the incident, remarked, "Everyone who enters here, whether visitors or reporters, doesn't carry identification tags. So, I believe the government needs to address this. This seems to be a complete lapse in security. Any untoward incident could have occurred within the Lok Sabha.

The occurrence coincides with the 22nd anniversary of the 2001 Parliament attack.

On December 13, 2001, terrorists affiliated with Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) launched an attack on the Parliament complex, engaging in gunfire. Their attempt to breach Parliament House was thwarted by personnel from the Parliament Security Service, CRPF, and Delhi Police.

Tragically, nine individuals, including eight security personnel, lost their lives in the attack.

After the incident, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla spoke to the House, stating, "Both individuals have been apprehended, and the materials in their possession have been confiscated. The two individuals outside the Parliament have also been taken into custody by the police."

The Speaker also mentioned that, according to the initial investigation, the smoke was of a common type.
